What an email extractor does (and does not do)
An email extractor scans raw text and pulls out everything shaped like an email address. It is the fastest way to recover addresses buried in webpage copy, event attendee lists, old CSV exports, PDFs, or long email threads, and to turn that mess into a clean, deduplicated list.
What it does not do is tell you whether those mailboxes are alive. Extracted lists typically carry stale, misspelled, and abandoned addresses, and mailbox providers punish senders for exactly that: sustained bounce rates above roughly 2-3 percent damage your domain reputation and push even your good email to spam. Extraction is step one; verification is what makes a list sendable.
Three rules for using extracted emails in outreach
- Verify before you send. Run every extracted list through verification, ideally at send time rather than in a one-off batch, since B2B addresses decay by roughly 2-3 percent a month as people change jobs.
- Prefer people over role accounts. Keep the role-based filter on: info@ and support@ addresses rarely reply and often feed spam complaints.
- Mind the legal basis. B2B cold outreach is legitimate in most jurisdictions when it is targeted and offers an opt-out, but scraping consumer addresses or emailing without a business rationale is how domains end up on blocklists. Extract for relevance, not for volume.
