Prospecting in Plain English: Meet Salesgear Copilot

TL;DR: Salesgear Copilot is your AI prospecting partner, and it is live for every Salesgear account today. Describe who you want to reach (“marketing leaders at SaaS companies with 200+ employees in New York”) and Copilot finds them across 800M+ contacts and 70M+ companies, builds the list, reveals verified emails and direct dials at 95% mobile coverage, and drafts a complete multichannel sequence, all in one chat. It asks when your request is ambiguous and confirms before it spends credits. This post covers why we built it, what it does end to end, and the design decisions that keep you in control.

Why we built Copilot: the end of filter menus
Most sales tools make you think like a database. You know exactly who you want (“RevOps leaders at mid market fintech”), but the tool demands you translate that into its language: industry dropdowns, employee-count ranges, title filters, boolean strings. Every rep performs this translation dozens of times a week, and every translation loses something. The tools taught us to think in filters; the thinking was always in sentences.
Copilot deletes the translation step. You say who you want in everyday language, and it does the converting: intent in, correct search out. That sounds like a small convenience. In practice it changes who can prospect (anyone who can describe a customer), how fast (minutes, not hours), and how well (the search matches what you meant, not what the dropdowns allowed).
What Copilot does, end to end
- Find people and companies by describing them. Copilot turns plain-language intent into the right search across 800M+ contacts and 70M+ companies. You never touch a filter menu.
- Build and refine lists on the fly, then save to a contact or account list in one step.
- Reveal verified emails and direct dials, backed by Salesgear’s 95% direct dial and mobile coverage.
- Draft complete multichannel sequences (email, LinkedIn, and call steps) from a short brief, then launch.
- Run Deep Research sequences, where Copilot researches each contact and writes personalized copy for every person, not one generic template.
- Manage contacts, lists, and sequences, and push everything to your CRM.
- Check your unified inbox and get a suggested next step after every result.
One conversation, walked through
Here is the whole motion, as it actually runs:
- You: “Find me marketing leaders at SaaS companies with 200+ employees in New York.” Copilot: runs the search, shows the matches, asks one clarifying question if your ask was ambiguous (director-level and up, or VPs only?).
- You: “VPs and above. Save the top 100 to a list.” Copilot: builds the list, confirms before creating it.
- You: “Reveal direct dials and draft a three step sequence.” Copilot: confirms the credit spend, reveals verified numbers, and drafts email, LinkedIn, and call steps you can edit or launch.
- You: “Make it a Deep Research sequence.” Copilot: researches each of the 100 contacts individually and rewrites every step per person, with the sources attached.
From “who should I call” to calling them: one conversation, minutes not hours. The sequence runs on the full sales engagement platform underneath, so deliverability protection, the dialer, and CRM sync are already there.
Personalization that actually scales
The step we care most about is the one most tools fake. Merge-field personalization (“Hi {first name}, I saw you work at {company}”) stopped working years ago, and invented personalization is worse: buyers pattern-match a fake “loved your recent post!” instantly. Copilot’s Deep Research sequences do the thing a great rep does by hand: read each prospect (their role, their company’s signals, what they have said publicly) and write copy for that person, grounded in sources you can check. Same effort as a blast, quality of a hand written note. That is the difference between personalization as decoration and personalization as relevance.
The control problem, and how we solved it
The fear with AI that can act is obvious: what if it acts wrong? We built Copilot around three rules. It asks when your request is ambiguous, one quick question instead of a confident wrong guess at scale. It confirms before consequences: no credits spent, no lists created, no sequences launched without your explicit yes. It suggests, you decide: after every result it proposes the next step, and the workflow moves exactly as fast as your approvals. AI that acts, with a human hand on every consequential decision.

FAQ
What is Salesgear Copilot?
An AI prospecting partner inside Salesgear. Describe who you want to reach, and it finds them across 800M+ contacts and 70M+ companies, builds the list, reveals verified emails and direct dials, and drafts multichannel outreach, all in one chat.
Does Copilot act on its own?
No. It asks a clarifying question when your request is ambiguous, confirms before spending credits or creating anything, and suggests the next step after each result. You approve every consequential action.
How is Copilot different from asking ChatGPT for a prospect list?
A general chatbot invents names and guesses emails. Copilot searches Salesgear’s owned database with live verification and 95% direct dial coverage, then executes: saved lists, launched sequences, CRM sync. Real data, real actions. And if you prefer ChatGPT’s interface, the Salesgear MCP connector brings the same engine there.
What is a Deep Research sequence?
A sequence where Copilot researches each contact individually and writes personalized copy for every person, grounded in sources, instead of one template with merge fields.
Is Copilot available now?
Yes, Copilot is live for Salesgear accounts. The MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT (mcp.salesgear.io) is also live.
